The F.A.C. Adjutant's staff was officially commissioned on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in Owensboro, KY.
HISTORY
On a Saturday night, in the year 2002 during the annual council session in Louisville, KY (Greater Bethel Temple) the late Honorable Bishop Melvin Boyd announced the appointment of Pastor McNeese to the position of F.A.C. Administrative Assistant. He then began serving as adjutant to the Bishop.
As the administrative assistant, Dr. McNeese began enforcing protocol and assisting in various security and hospitality duties primarily at the discretion and desire of Bishop Boyd. After the Bishop's transition, the new Diocesan, Bishop Sherman L. Merritt requested (via Suffragan Bishop James Moore, Owensboro, KY) that Pastor La Monte McNeese develop a team of armor bearers to serve the First Apostolic Council of Kentucky & Tennessee.
In February 2008 during the Annual Pastors' and Ministers' Conference in Bowling Green, KY, a set of specific duties was introduced to the bishop by Pastor McNeese which also gained approval from the Executive Board.
Bishop S. L. Merritt requested that a separate article and section of the by-laws be reserved and that the duties of the armor-bearers be included in the official F.A.C. Constitution and By-Laws manual. In September of 2007, the council appointed Suffragan Bishop Carl McCullen as a security director along with a brother from Owensboro, KY to head up its security department. Due to availability issues, the service did not remain consistent and ultimately the need arose for new security detail. During the March council of the following year (2008), Suffragan Bishop McCullen agreed with the executive board that Dr. McNeese should be appointed head of council security.

The "A" Team
Rather than have two different teams/departments, McNeese combined the security and armor-bearer teams. Also in order to keep the F.A.C. current with Biblical, religious, and social custom, the term "armor bearer" was retired and replaced with the term "Adjutant" creating what is now known as the F.A.C. Adjutant's staff AKA - The "A" Team.
STATUS
The F.A.C. Adjutants' staff is not an "auxiliary", we are a "diocesan appointed" council management team providing a continuous, combustible balance of security & hospitality to the general body.
STAFF STRUCTURE
A chief adjutant, chosen and appointed by the diocesan bishop, will act as the director of a team of Godly, professional, courteous, and hospitable security personnel and act in direct assistance to the diocesan in his service to the First Apostolic Council. The director shall be personally responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of F.A.C. functions.
WHAT IS AN ADJUTANT?
In Old Testament days, an armor bearer was one who actually carried the shield and armor of his leader as he went into battle, often acting as his personal assistant. In many religious circles today the term "armor bearer" is slightly outmoded and the term Adjutant is preferred. The word "adjutant" simply means "assistant".
PURPOSE
The office of "Adjutant" is necessary because of the impertinent character that segments of the general public now display towards the people of God and the quality of servitude required to ensure that visitors and the general body enjoy an excellent worship experience.
IS THIS BIBLICAL?
Today, the office of adjutant is as Biblical as any other office in the church. In fact, an adjutant's job encompasses the duties of doorkeepers, altar workers, deacons, and many other necessary services of the church. Our job combines the faithful spirit of Old Testament armor-bearers with the chosen "servants" (deacons) of the New Testament (Acts 6:2-4). The former is from the Latin term "adiuvare", meaning "to help". The latter is from the ancient Greek term "diakonos" (διάκονος), (minister or servant). While we do not officially use the Old Testament term "armor bearer", we stand behind (and if necessary in front) of our leaders in every capacity required to accomplish the work of God.
Our officers are those who feel anointed by God to serve and help assigned leaders in life, ministry, and especially in the fight of faith. In essence, a modern-day F.A.C. adjutant is called to attend to, minister to, care for, help, be of use, assist, benefit, promote, support, make easy, nourish, and encourage leaders and the general body at large.
